Jacqui at Work

My work reflects my interest as both an illustrator and a ceramist. I grew up in Kent, in the Medway Towns, where life during my childhood was colourful and slightly eccentric. I developed an interest in people, memories and situations. This is reflected in my work where I have connected observations from childhood to domestic objects like teacups and jugs.

The sculptural pieces that I make are also linked to themes of memory and the passing of time. Dramatic landscapes have always captivated me, from my regular holidays to North Wales as a child, to a recent trip to the Colorado region of America. The pieces I made were inspired by the Grand Canyon, breathtaking rock formations contrasted with eroding ice cool rivers. The vessels evoke a sense of colour and scale that I enjoyed whilst there.
